Acrylic grounds are painted over substrates to prepare the support for painting.  Acrylic grounds are also used to create a desired surface on which to paint on.  Gesso is considered as a ground.  Gels, mediums and molding pastes can also be used as a ground for painting with acrylics. In this section, we highlighted special grounds for special purposes.
