Transfer Gilding

	Before applying transfer gilding, make sure that the surface has been coated with gold size. It is important that this has dried to the right degree of tackiness to ensure that the gold adheres properly to the surface. Different types have different setting times, so follow the manufacturers' instructions. Transfer gold comes in sheets on a paper backing.
	Position a sheet on the frame.
	Press it down lightly with the finger. Use a tool if you have to push it into a grooved molding.
	Carefully remove the paper backing. Repeat this procedure until the required area is covered, Traditionally, red-brown bole is used as a base for gold, and black bole for silver.
